Anyone ever have their windshield wiper somehow put an Arc-like rainbow-esqe smear/light scratches on their windshield.

    This happened back in March...
3 days after having a brand new windshield put in due to cracks/chips I go to clear winter salt spray off and boom a scratch like rainbow. Thought some dirt got on the blade but no; it kinda appears that the rubber blade didn't hold up very well to the wind resistance and the wipers metal framing ever so slightly got pressed against the glass.... very strange....it was kinda of a windy day. Not severe wind. But a little above average if I remember. Lots of similar days occur throughout the winter so nothing extraordinary at all. The wipers were fairly new...couple weeks old maybe. Thankfully the smear is on the passenger side

Is this unusual for this to happen. Wiper being pressed too hard y wind resistance aganst glass etc etc

And does Anyone know of a way to fix or clear it up or just make it look a whole lot better?
Hate to have it replaced again so soon...

Once glass is scratched, there's not much you can do about it, but to live with it until you replace the windshield again.

You can try using a mild automotive cleaner/wax and try buffing it to minimize the scratch so it's not so noticable, but it will always be there.

I for one don't use cheap windshield wiper blades, as the quality of the rubber isn't very good and they don't last.

Make sure the arms themselves, not the blade, are in good shape. If they are worn or bent, they will allow the blade to tilt too much and the metal frame of the blade with contact the glass.

For light scratches I have used 000 steel wool. Clean the windshield and will take some elbow grease but will get rid of light scratches.

I like to buy winter blades for this reason.
The cheaply made wiper blades always fail.
At least with winter blades the entire assembly is vinyl coated.
I change out the blades essay before their time.

Eastwood company sells a glass polishing kit that really does work. Did the windshield on my '67 Camaro with one of the kits, turned out nice. It had a minor wiper scrape on the passenger side also. Rule of thumb is if a fingernail doesn't catch on it, it can be polished out.

Eastwood.com is where we got the kit from if anyone else has this problem.
