I made right at $40K in 9 months my rookie year, straight outta CDL school. You might as well go work at Wal-Mart if you're only making $500 a week, that's a pathetic wage for 2000 miles not to mention your time spent, personal road expenses, etc.

Thanks for all of the replies to my questions. I have no problem working for Pam to pay back the cost of school. I was just expecting more miles and more pay for my time. What made me question everything was when I had a partner for 10 days and looked at my pay stub. The cpm was .175. They paid me for the miles of the truck not my individual miles driven. That's not what was said in orientation. They said if you drive with a partner you will get paid .35 cpm and you get paid for all the miles the truck does. That's not true. You split .35 cpm and you get paid for the miles of the truck. That is my main complaint. They didn't tell us upfront. As far as the contract if you leave you only have to pay $100 a month until the $6000 is paid off.

Good god, that's just a scam. Predatory at best.

    Run for your life.

That's a crappy team rate too. My partner and I started out splitting $.48 cpm and at the end it was $.52. We were both making $70,000 a year and home weekly

That's how team driving works. You split the cpm and get paid on the total miles driven on the truck. Truck should never stop rolling as long as everything goes right

If I run hard, I'll gross 1,300-1,500 Ive had my CDL for a month.

Don't be afraid to look for options.. Unfortunately truckers sometimes set their personal value low and sell themselves a lie.. I'd do some research, Chinatown is great for company knowledge and can point you to a company where you can get a respectable start.

Without drivers the trucks don't move.
If you do a good job why not expect a good wage.
