Verizon Unlimited Back

All the "unlimited" plans I've seen have caps on speed after so much data has been used.

I have Verizon and they have a cap for teathered/hotspot usage set at 10GB after which they drop the speed to 3G. They also have a soft cap at 22GB where non teathered/hotspot use can drop to 3G speeds in congested areas if the network is busy.

I am well over the 22GB soft cap and I have no problems watching HD TV or videos when using a hotspot to my iPad as long as I have a fairly good signal. The drop to 3G is really only going to affect uploading/downloading of large files for the most part.

 

I know what they say about cutting you back after 10gb. I just havent experienced it yet. My service is 100% fluid from the first day of my billing period all the way till the end.

I have absolutely no complaints. For me,.. unlimited is truly unlimited.

Speedtest I just did to show you my current speed,.. this is clearly a lot more than 3G.

So for anyone unsure what unlimited verizon is about. Here it is.

3G on Verizon is still 5mb/s. You only need about 760kb/s to stream most video clear enough with out pixalation on a large screen. And technically,. you can still stream lower quality video all the way down to 240 kb/s.

In laymans terms,.. I just did a speed test at 39 mb/s. 760 kb/s = .760 mb/s. Not even 1 mb/s I have enough bandwidth to stream 35 different video streams at the same time right now. Completely over kill. I can stream a 4k video feed easily right now.

So dont worry about 3g vs 4g speeds. Its more than enough to watch netflix, youtube, Kodi, what ever your flavor is.

I've never had a phone bill over $85 with sprint. Except now that I'm doing the payment plan. And there coverage has expanded. I've had no problems with calls and texts now. Except the 2 dead spots on I-15. Verizon don't work there either. Internet has been hit and miss where my deliveries are but for the most part it works.

 

If I had to guess, you buy the cheapest phones, or the free phone. I had 4 lines with Sprint. 3000 shared mins on their Friends and Family plan. You got 10 people you could call and it would not eat up your minutes. They also charged me $35 so I could use my phone as a hotspot. (tethering). I was paying $260 a month to Sprint if I remember correctly.

As I stated, you dont operate in the range that I do. I go coast to coast, border to border. I can be almost anywhere. Sprint can not, and does not provide the service coverage that I need. They dont come anywhere close to the network that Verizon has. ATT is the only one who comes close. And even if Sprint and Tmobile finally merged, they still would not have the network that ATT or Verizon currently have.

This is my business. This is how I make my living. I'm not some poor company schmuck who can barely afford a $100 phone bill. Having service at home does me no good when I am in a place like New Sharon, Ia, or Popular Mt.

You can like your local Sprint service. Thats great. I run coast to coast, border to border. I need a phone and data that works everywhere I am. Sprint does not and can not offer that.

You cant compare my needs to your needs. Its like comparing Sprint and Verizon. Yeah we are both truckers. But we each have different needs and priorities. We do things differently. Verizon is the best service I can buy right now. My phone is my business. I dont care if my bill was $400 (Yes I would care), I would still pay it and still write it off every year as a business expense.

Verizon is #1 for a reason. Hate them, love them,.. the facts are still the same.

I'd hardly consider the s8 a cheap phone.

And the cheap phone don't work. On either carrier.

 

Your still trying to compare apples and oranges.

Sprint can not serve my mobile needs.

I get 22 gigs with Boost and 8 gigs hotspot non contract. $50/month and they give you a very decent phone.

 

AT least I know how the apples compare.

 

I honestly dont believe you do.

Not if you honestly believe that Sprint is a viable coast to coast mobile provider for otr drivers like me who depend on network integrity for their business needs.

Thats not who Sprint is.
