whats the deal???

    Did you google Swift training? Schneider doesnt train anymore I guess and Werner is NOT where you want to go. Their are to many choices out there. It doesnt matter where in the country they are if you are accepted they will bus or fly you to their terminal.

    Yep yep, got the number for "training" off Swift's website... which is what started the whole phone whack-a-mole deal.

    It doesn't matter a whit to me where they are, I know they'll pay transport. Problem is, it seems to matter to them where I am - which makes sense if I want home time in Jacksonville, but I don't.

    Regardless, Swift's training is more expensive than what I was going to do - my local community college has an 8-week CDL class for $2300 total.

    Might take a look at Watkins & Shepard - I think they still contract out to local schools.. but I may be completely out of my mind.

    heh, this is true.

    I'm gonna give them a call again, myself, Monday - questions about my CPAP needed answered. Problem is, I don't think they're gonna like the answers.

    Casting my hairy eye in other directions...

    1. Slosh and handling aren't that bad it the tank is nearly full . I run dedicated trailers so half my miles are empty .
    2. I never handle the loading . Most loads are hazmat and I never touch a hose unloading them either .
    3. For those that have to do it , unloading chemicals where a full chemical suit is required along with respirator is very uncomfortable in warm weather .
    As a rule there are less loading and unloading delays with tanker . Detention time is paid for time beyond that stipulated in the rate .

    Schneider may be still training in their tanker division . I doubt any experienced tanker yankers would go there .

    im stuck between werner and schneider to start off with...i know your first year or two is just mainly to get your foot in the door but the recruiter said the start you off with $0.26 per mile i dont know much about trucking but even i know thats low

    Yeah , it's low . I'm on percentage but I'm guaranteed $.40 a mile every mile driven , loaded , empty , or bobtail . Usually it's higher .
    Go with the Schneider tanker . Most tanker companies don't require tanker experience but want 2 years OTR . Some will consider less .
