I hope I'm not showing my age too much by asking this. But what was with IdleAire? I remember when first started OTR it was kind of, for lack of a better phrase, "all the craze". And oh its gonna revolutionize the truck stop. Now I guess with the invent of the APU all the racks lay dormant and dilapidated. Was it really just sticking a hose in your window for AC? I remember hearing it had other amenities, maybe a tv screen? I could be wrong about that. And did they charge by hour or night? Or are there areas where this system is still used?

And it's expensive for what it is. We used it about 8 years ago when our A/C went out.

There is a Flying J by Dalton GA that is almost brand new and has it as we speak. I've never seen it anywhere else but I've only driven a year. How much it gets used I don't know.

I've seen it in a few places, if I remember correctly it was $3 an hour. I know it was more than it cost to idle sans the wear on the engine

@motocross25 I wanna say it was $2-$3 per hour. You had to buy this stupid card in set increments of like $20, $50, etc. to pay for it.

The problem is truck stops didn't want them as they took up more space.
The drivers didn't use them as cost for overnight usage it was cheaper to get a hotel.
Then like above, data came out on cell phones, so no need to use the over prices internet service.
Also, had to buy an adapter for the truck.motocross25 Thanks this. -
