Haven't heard from Tidewater? So you put in an app? Hmm. Usually they give you the name and number for the local terminal manager via. a phone call. Odd you didn't hear back.

I noticed that your location is Decatur Alabama, guessing that is where you live.
Unlike many truck drivers, you actually live in the same area that you work out of, making home time much more accessible to you. That is wonderfully great.
God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.! -
Yes, I live in Decatur. Moved there after getting this job. Before then I lived 2.5 hours away. We do not take our tractors home when off, so it helps to live near or in a town with a Tidewater terminal.MidwestResident Thanks this.

RevKev how do you like Tidewater ,I have a interview next week , hadnt been able to talk to one of their drivers.

I'm happy at Tidewater. Good equipment, good maintenance. Great terminal manager support. Training was good, and other drivers always willing to help out with answers, etc.
Don't know what terminal you'll be running out of, but every one I've had dealings with has been easy to work with.
Sending you a pm. -
ok thanks interviewing at florence sc

Getting a job pulling tanks all depends on what you're hauling. I imagine that the mega carriers will give you a shot right out of school. They're mostly not local and the same story goes with them as the rest of the mega carriers. Now if you're talking about staying local and hauling gasoline it's a much better paying job than the rest. However, you'll see the companies want experience and a basic knowledge of there operations. They want drivers that have a clean record and does not need much training. But just like everything else sometimes there's a way to get lucky and land one of those jobs you'll want to retire from. It's a matter of timing and who you know. If a company needs a driver sometimes they will hire the guy right in front of them. This old saying that the company will not hire new drivers is just not true. Some of the bigger, clean, well maintained trucks and drivers are self insured and can hire who they want.
If you like the OTR driving then the megas might just be your cup of tea. Anyway you look at it you'll be gaining experience and you can look around to really find the company you want. The trick is to stay clean and have nothing on any records. Be sure to document all your training and what you have done. After awhile you'll be in demand and have the companies seeking you out. It all depends on the area and if there is a steady growth in business.
