I hate having the unknown hanging over my head. I've put off this whole Sleep Apnea thing for quite a few years. Seems now though that there are some inexpensive home sleep tests out there.

Has anyone taken the bull by the horns and got the whole sleep apnea thing taken care of? I would rather do it on my own terms rather than get gouged by some high priced sleep lab as I don't have insurance.

If you take a home sleep test and you have sleep apnea, where do you then get a cpap machine? Looking for an affordable one that would preferably plug into the trucks 12 volt outlet.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

Someone on here has a website list that does the home test cheap like $250 the CPAP machine were like $650. I seen them online for $850. They sell 12v power cord you can plug into any 12v plug. I have CPAP in truck and had trouble with automatic power cut off in sleeper cutting the power to the 12v plugs at night. If you run the humidifier and heated air hose the CPAP can use some power. So I got a battery backup that plugs into 12V and when the power is cut off to sleeper the battery keep CPAP going.

I wonder how accurate the home study is? If you have a webcam, voice recorder, or an MP3 player with voice recording functions you could record the sounds/video of you sleeping and see if you should investigate further.

Just put "creative muvo v100" into ebay or Craigslist. I see one on ebay for $25. It will run all night and beyond on 1 AAA battery and has a voice recorder that holds I think 45 hours of recording. I'll bet it's cheaper than a home sleep study.

There's also free apps that will give you a good idea if you have it or not.

Out of worry that I could be faced with a sleep apnea test someday, I got the free Snore lab app and discovered I've nothing to worry about after running it for a month.
Snore lab doesn't actually say if you have apnea or not but it plays back and lets you listen to yourself to see if you quit breathing or gasp for air during sleep or snoring. IMG_1510.PNG

Anybody in your life ever ripped you a new one for snoring so loud the bats don't roost in your 'hood? If yes you have apnea if no you are ugly and no one likes you or you don't. My bro and my bf are both 160 lbs. I'm 265. They have it and I don't.

This is a "One Stop Shop" for anyone who needs to be tested and treated for sleep apnea.

Surely, somewhere online, one can buy a chip for the machine that always shows one is in compliance.

    Really. (note: no question mark).

It's nice that you've got a skinny boyfriend. Sorry about his apnea. *thumbs up! - three of 'em* It'll be okay.

Doesn't matter. If your neck isn't disproportionately too small, you have sleep apnea. Some dweeb in a lab coat said so.
