Good advice, but I think you have the wrong driver. I don't have anything on my DAC. I was just adding input.

swift is not hiring experienced drivers at this time. i have 15 years military experience driving and they said im considered a seasoned driver. whats the scoop on their pay at .26 cents a mile starting out thats awfully low pay if you ask me.

I am experienced and they hired me recently although as with all things its at their will thankfully some people on here gave me the names of some alternates but I think it may have more to do with geography then anything just like my orientation class is the last and only one for the month of november out of my terminal

I'm a rehire start orientation Thursday the 6th, the needs for experiance drivers depends on the local terminals needs and the availablity of trucks for the "seasoned" drivers. As for the low start pay of .26 cents is for newbies right out of school check the swift web site on the pay schedule...

Anyone know how things are at the Denver terminal? I'm torn on whether Swift is a good choice or not, but considering my choices at the moment it seems like I'm pretty much stuck picking the lesser evil until I get some experience behind me. My other choices are Stevens (not a chance in hell after what I've read on here), May and Werner.

I went with England first when I was living in SLC. While in Class we were taking our driving test and when we got back to the terminal I was brought in, given my three hundred dollars back and told I was done they didnt want me to work for them. I didnt flunk the driving test at all. For some reason they said I had a bad additude and slammed the gears when driving. Just a bunch of B.S. Anyway I think that the morning befor I was streight line backing a truck and this guy wanted to get out and back me up. I told him it wasnt nessessary because I just seen what was behind me and there was nothing within 500 ft. of where I was backing. Well the next day befor we took off for our driving test the trainer giving the test told us we would all know if we passed on the way in. On the way in everything was quiet. He never said anything. During the driving test we stopped for a smoke break. There was 5 or 6 of us. Well I didnt smoke so I stayed in the truck. I think that guy must have said something to the trainer while on the smoke break. Everything was fine befor then. Well, I was devistated. I was sent home for what I'm still not sure why. The reasons they gave were incorrect. One of the reasons was they said I just wanted to use them to get my CDL and go to another company. WTF. The very next year I went to Swift and eased right through the class they sent me to up there in Ogden Ut. Then with the trainer I was with for six weeks on the road. That was twelve yrs ago. England brings in masses of recruites then sends half to three quarters of them home for one reason or another. Swift treated me fine. The reasons I left is another story. But they gave me my foot in the door to be a truck driver. Three yrs ago my dad goes to the school at Steven's. He did not like the way he was treated at all. But he said he knew that they have to speak on the lowest level of IQ in the class. You have to know that can get pretty low. But he go threw it and now he can choose the company he works for.
No company that trains drivers is going to be a walk in the park. It's a foot in the door. Once you have that your good to go.

I was not out of Denver but every time I was in the area and had to speak to dispatch they where always helpful. They often gave me some good loads out of there. I remember when I was stranded at the Terminal due to a Blizzard many of us where out of food and some of the locals provided us food.

When I drove for them the indoor staff was good but the shop left much to be desired. I never liked using their shop because they were very slow in getting anything done. Dispatch and terminal manager were great. It is a good location near lots of shopping and right off I70. I did find it best if going south to head east on 70 and then take I225 down to I25. It seems like traffic through downtown Denver was always heavy.

Thanks for the info guys! I actually grew up in Denver so I know my way around out here, and would most likely be based out of the terminal here. Looks like its not all that bad.

:yes2557:Denver terminal is probably the best terminal. Try to get John as your DM if he's still there. :biggrin_25525: But he is part of the ill comunication, and disorganized mess, that I quit because of.
He is a good guy, and will try to get you the miles, and work with you/treat you more like a name and not a number.... just make double sure if you need to change any paper work, that you talk to the fleet manager to make sure all your ducks are in a row. I forgot the FM name, he is a good guy too.
