Just starting out your probably not going to get close to earning that much unless you get really really lucky and that's a pretty slim chance.
Read everything you can on here that looks like it may pertain to you or your interests and ask a lot of questions. Your just going to have to figure out on your own who's real and who isn't.
My personal suggestion to you would be to use your GI bill, get a good education and find something else to do, especially if you have a young daughter, you don't want to miss out on anything if you don't have to, but....that's just me.
Lots of horror stories on here and some successful ones, very little truth and a whole lot of BS.
I wish you nothing but the best, good luck, and thank you for your service.

I'm working with Carry Transport right now (a division of superior) and I absolutely love it. -
What type of hauling are you doing?

I am a former Marine and driving a truck is a very easy transition from military life. If you have yet to obtain your CDL there are programs available for you, don't volunteer to be a slave over a $5,000 debt. Do your research and find the right company to sign on with. I have always pulled reefer and I have never made less than 65. Definitely do your research on the owner op bit because it has become increasingly difficult to thrive without going months without seeing your fam. If you lived near me I could probably get you a great job.

Thanks for the advice I'm currently enrolled in a school in ft benning for the date of July 17th. im looking for other opportunities outside the military. That's why I am attending the school now so I can have a plan well before I get out. and I talked with my wife and the plan is for me to put in a lot of work now cause I know it will be a fast life much like the military so I wouldn't have to adjust to much and I want to gain as much experience and save as much so I can by my own truck before I'm 30 so I can have bigger opportunities owning my own truck.

Don't come to Schneider to run teams, all the guys I've talked to that tryed it have gone solo, they had a few good long runs for teams but they would sit on the end and it killed their pay they said. And quality outbid the Washington run I heard and took it over, it was east coast to Washington and back empty but is long gone. And yea being in savannah you will have a nice choice of work definitely in the future
