Ive been driving for a little over a year im currently pulling tanks for Tidewater Transit its a good company to work for but ive found my nitche and thats all I want to do I want to find a company that runs east coast to west. Are there any companies that do this without having a dozen stops on the way. Doesnt have to be a tanker company either ill pull anything but I just want to do long haul. Im wondering if this is even a reasonable question as I have looked and cant find any. :biggrin_2552:

Most of the east coast to west coast runs like you describe are given to teams. Usually time sensitive..:biggrin_2554:

Your asking about the perfect company, I met one driver who drove tanker for PRIME in Ripon CA, he had a perfect dedicated route. It was East coast to West coast with one stop and a nonstop back. I wish you luck on your search, and hopefully it will be out of your home town. DRIVE SAFE

Pretty much anymore east-west coast transport is done with teams. The less time sensitive freight is also shipped on rail close to the final destination. But if you do want to solo east-west coast, stick with tankers and/or flatbeds, because solo cross country with a van is almost unheard of anymore, at least on a regular basis.

Man that sounds like an ideal driving job,but like has been posted here most of those are team runs. A lot of us would probably like that kind of a set up,but I dont think its gonna happen

I wouldnt mind learning to flatbed but I dont want to have to go TMC or one of the other super carriers to do it.

Henderson Trucking out Salem, IL runs a lot of East/West. They do have teams, but they are still sending solos all over the country, too. Not a huge company, about 400 trucks I think. A lot of reefer. They haul a lot of lettuce for Dole and Coors out of Denver. They are also getting new trucks all the time.

I worked for them for a year and a half. I ran a dedicated run right around the house, home every night. My dad drives for them now. Running my old route. Friend of mine started after Dad and I did. He ran East/West. He said Henderson wasn't afraid to pay you for stuff you did. He made a lot of money driving for them.

Give 'em a call. You'll have to look them up on the internet, but they have a website I think. They have orientation starting Mondays and Wednesdays I think. Its been a while since I went through it...

One thing I really liked about them, they are big enough to get good freight (which they do) but small enough they know your name when you call, and they try to help you out any way they can.

Your best bet I think would be to find a small operator{less than 20 trucks} running a reefer. Be prepared to run hard and deal with grocery warehouses and co ops. I used to see a lot of Henderson trucks on I 10 running from So Cal back to the east.
