I'm at a lost why beverage pays low. Maybe Foodservice is more profitable is my only thought why FS pays more. But I'd think they sell a boat load of pop also. Some companies are just greedy though. Each beverage company goes off of other beverage companies pay. If they pay too low they won't find drivers. Same goes with Foodservice.

I have worked for both and it's because food is a lot more profitable you take a 100 lb box of steaks in it could be 4 or 500 bucks that's a lot of 12 packs of beer or soda to make that money for the company I could be wrong but that would be my guess

We hired one of our two new guys about two months ago. Thursday was his last day. Apparently he found a job where all he had to do was drive and not touch the freight. Oh well. that's life.

Couple years ago, I took a guy for a road test that worked for PFG. He said he made $210/day. Didn't matter how many cases he threw or how long it took, it was $210. Layover route paid $420. Shuttle drivers to his drop yard made $210.

Sorry, but I have a hard time getting out of bed for less than $400. Somebody would have to ask really nice.

So do you other foodservice guys have the ability to cut deals when asked for favors??
My job sucks and is hard work, but I've been here almost 13 years. Today another team broke down and got a replacement truck from Penske. That truck tho didn't have a lift gate charging cable so they asked me to meet them on their route and swap out trucks after I was done. Made a deal and made some easy money.

Alright lets light this one up again. So this July I swear has been or at least felt like it has been the worst July on record money wise. My pay checks have been on the downward slope the past 2 weeks. I had $600.00 bucks in my checking account this morning and we got paid today I had to figure I would have a little bit of money after getting paid, to put towards getting new breaks for my car. Well, we get paid and my net wasn't even enough to make up the defficite I had to pull money out of my savings went backwards by -$31.00.

I had to make a change I have a 401K with Company match I left that alone, but I also have a small Roth IRA I started I was saving 3% of my pay into that, I had to bump that down to 1% because as stupid and petty as this sounds that $35 bucks a week I could use that to like buy gas for my car and stuff.

I understand the concept of saving for retirement I do, but lets not forget I still have bills that I need to pay today and I'm not retiring today and that's along ways away any way I slice it so, but yeah this has been a dismal month financially I've been saving up to get new breaks, I've got about $600.00-$700.00(If we use mark to market accounting) saved up for that and managed to save up $338.00 just in total regular savings so put all that together I managed to hold onto $1,038.00 this month, but still can and should be able to do better then that, that number is unacceptable and my $721.00 pay check this week was pretty dismal. I told my mom you know how much I netted last week? $721.00. She went "Whaaa!" I said yeah now management said in about 2 weeks the tonnage is going to increase and hopefully we get some crap going again.

It's not that I can't pay my bills I can that's not the issue and it's not that there's no money there is, but I would like to eventually buy living room furniture and a new TV for my living room and new appliaces for my kitchen and also start paying down the pricipal on my mortgage. Actually what I'm going to do when I'm done paying on my new counter tops is use that money at the end of the year to pay down the principal on my mortgage. If I do that I can probably get my mortgage licked in 9-10 years.

Anyhow they say tonnage will increase in the next 2 weeks, well I say I've had my rest bring it.
