Yes they do make a difference for sure.
To answer your ???'s
Driving: 30 years
Accidents: 0
Last ticket: 10+ yrs
State: WV
Truck: 1995 see avatar
1,000,000
150,000 cargo
20,000 on truck
750,000 uninsured
No trailer yet so not added.
Just to give you an idea.RStewart, K Wopper906 and redoctober83 Thank this. -
All of that makes a huge difference in pricing.
Just finished my 1st year of authority with 4 years of driving. No accidents at all either. Clean inspections every time as well.
I'm out of Washington state which has one of the highest insurance rates in the country (yes I'm looking at moving).
My coverage is as follows:
Auto liability: $1,000,000
Cargo w/reefer breakdown: $250,000
General liability: $2,000,000
Trailer interchange: $70,000
2013 Owned trailer physical: $21,000
2015 Tractor physical: $95,000
Medical: $5,000
Uninsired/Underinsured: $1,000,000
Definitely a big difference in situations when it comes to coverages, experience and trucks.
I pay $11,000 a year on each tractor in my fleet. The quotes I'm getting back right now for shopping around outside of this group I'm in are between $18,000-23,000. So far I'll stick with my current insurance. I do like your rates better though!OLDSKOOLERnWV Thanks this. -
Need to get setup with some insurance. Would you mind sharing the company you are with?OLDSKOOLERnWV Thanks this.

I would love to be "new" in the business... after 40+ years that I'll admit to as a heavy hauler, it was a treat to be on less than 13 axles and under 200k lbs. But, here I am semi retired, sold the big truck and bought a small Kenworth T-300 with a flatbed. The insurance companies I have called talk like I just got out of truck driving school according to the rates they give me on this little truck.
There has got to be a insurance company out there who will sell this hot shot type coverage at a reasonable price.. anyone know of one?
