Theres money to be made here, you just have to be smart and avoid dead areas. im making ok money without running a lot of miles. Still a lot of deadhead.

What's the deal with tarp pay? I'd heard from another guy there they want you to tarp everything but they never give it to you, they claim they put it put in the line and also of course get 25% of it.
-
This is where it gets funky.
Say the line haul rate is $1k (easier math) from a broker load.
When your dispatcher breaks it out, it will look like this:
LH $830 (before the CRST cut)
FSC $120 (you get 100%)
Tarp $50 (you get 100%)
Gross: $622.50 (your 75% of the LH to the truck)
Here is why this is important, if you add up the gross, FSC, and Tarp you get $792.50 to the truck. Breaking pay out like this gives you an extra $42.50 on this load.Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
this is true. and well written. just ask them to break it all down for you.. no big deal at all. .Bean Jr. Thanks this.

a friend of mine that hired in back in March. has only tarp about 4 loads.lol you do not have to trap all loads.
-
I have now that have instructions not to tarp it. I'm stuck, because I have a covered wagon!nightgunner Thanks this.
-
I tarp about 50% of the time, I try to avoid it as much as I can. I will not pull anything that requires it but doesn't pay for it.
I am easy, not cheap.Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
