I'm on a very tight schedule due to my own screwup with planning, so I'm running SSB this whole trip. I did my nearly-8 driving yesterday nonstop, logged sleeper berth for 8, drove another 3ish, currently doing my 2hr nap. I know I'll get back the nearly-8, but here's where I'm confused. I know my next stop will likely be a big delay, so if I'm off duty waiting for at least 2hrs, how would that work if I decide to do 8 in the sleeper later tonight?
Essentially doing 8/2/2/8...?
I MUST be back home tomorrow night, remaining travel time will be approx 16hrs. Thus, gogogogo.
Sequence of split sleeper berth.

After the final 8 hr break, you will regain the drive hours from prior to the 2nd 2hr break, but your 14 will be reduced by the time when you started the 2nd 2hr break until you started the final 8hr break.
-
When you do the 2 first, it doesn't count against the 14.
He'll recover everything but what he used between the second 2 hour break and the second 8.Ke6gwf Thanks this. -
Just when you think you could count on Americold dragging ###, they unload me in 45 minutes. That threw a monkey wrench in my SSB plans. So I'm finishing up a 10hr break to drive a few more hours tonight, and finish out tomorrow.

For future reference, your 8/2/2/8 split is not legal. It would have to be 8/2/8/2 or 2/8/2/8.

If you have too much time, you can take 8 hours back to back, it worked on computer logging programs. Basically, 8 or more to less than 10, pauses the 14 hour clock. You count back to the break previous plus the pause to get your new 14 hour window.

Why?
I've ran an 8/2/2/8 before, it's tight but doable if the receiver and shipper are close by...Ke6gwf Thanks this. -
The more I read that, the more my head hurts. I can't quite wrap my brain around what you mean.
-
Either one can be taken first, I was just unsure about what I'd have available after the 2/8. But at this point it's irrelevant, my 10 is up in 2hrs.

Short runs, regional, with multiple drops picking up at the same place (running captive to a parent company) forces some creativity, thinking outside the box.
We were expected to run roughly 1100 miles, leaving when the product was ready and arriving in Brooklyn, NY at midnite or before, with 1 break on a straight haul.
Making partial drops before then really had you scratching your head at times. It would be simpler if any appreciable break stopped the clock, but the hard and fast 14 pooched that.
