Last week there was a load posted by a company who frequently post there own shipments. They were offering a $1000 for for a one pick one drop. It sat on the boards all day and nobody took it. They then took off the board and minutes later two different brokerage companies had it listed one paying $700 and the other $750. That tells me that these greedy brokers are getting a nice pay day for doing nothing more than a little data entry. That load disappeared within minutes once the brokers had it.

The age old mystery...Why do salespeople make more money than everyone else? This question is not limited to any particular industry. You will find animosity between sales and operations at most any company.

Most of the time when a broker is getting that kind of margin there's a reason. I've posted on this quite a bit, so there's really no point in my getting into it again... But basically if it sounds way too good to be true then there is probably something outside that specific load that explains it... And if there isn't using that broker is a problem the customer is trying to solve.

Because sales is hard. I get that non sales people don't get it, but if they feel like the salespeople are overpaid they are more than welcome to give it a try. Sales has very low barriers to entry, and if you can do it you should.

When people ask me what they should do for money I usually tell them to try the following things in order:

    1) Sales- usually the first job is a car dealership or something. Just check and see if you can sell. If you can sell keep selling until you can't stand it anymore.

    2) Code- if you have the ability to stand programming computers my (basically worthless) brother makes 30 bucks an hour for doing almost nothing at some mid sized company. Seriously he browses reddit all day every day.

    3) Trades or driving a truck. You guys know plenty about these options. Yeah they aren't super fun, but most of the people reading this post make a middle class living and aren't carrying around mid five figure student loan debts. The ones who are carrying around five figure student loan debts are exactly why none of the three things I tell people involve going to college.
