Many people can get there CDL without being on Contract with a company if they due their due diligence. Best Case scenario is to get a CDL free and clear of a contract and work for whomever youd like without being enslaved for up to a year. thats best case... if you need to go to a company sponsored school..... I understand... just be prepared to put up with it..

the ONLY reason I am saying not to get your CDL via a trucking school is because of the year contract and the lower cost per mile. I agree that my knowledge of this is solely based on other people's experience and what they have shared on this forum as well as other forums.
Her dream is not to be a trucker, she wants to be a trucker as a stepping stone to achieve her dream. Therefore, having a contact with a company that (from what I read) you will probably want to leave in 3-6 months, is probably not the BEST senecio for her.
There are ways to get a "private" school paid for without a loan. I agree not everyone qualifies for them all and therefore not everyone can go to a private school. My husband's is paid for because he is a veteran FROM the state of TEXAS. There are still some out of pocket fees he has to pay. Either way, there will be sacrifices to make and I prefer to pay upfront and not be held back or own by a company.
If what everyone says is true and we find ourselves wanting to go with another company in 6 months, we can do so free of any strings.
Maybe truckers could start a scholarship program for newbies who want to be truckers? Who knows, there may already be a scholarship of this type out there.

I understand what you're both saying and I don't mind giving a year of my time to a particular company as long as I can save in the process. But it seems because I have a speeding ticket between 21-25 miles I'm not certain the company will hire me now. Although that's in another state. I wanted to go there to team with my friend. I do still have my clp for Illinois but it's only class B and I'm not sure really what I can do at this point.

Just keep trying. Don't give up. If you can hang with any company so that you don't have to pay back any loan.... try them all. One is bound to give you a chance. Some will be worse than others, and it may take a lot more persistence to see it through, yet it is do-able.

I wanted prime but I will try to be persistent. My record is clean besides that one thing that happened this year. I know i was going fast but I thought they could make an exception for someone that has nothing else on their record I know it's people who have worse mvrs than I do and I've given my two week notice so now I have to really see what I'll do since I was quite impulsive.

Carolina Cargo will hire you with that speeding ticket and you can run teams there with your friend. Have to get a cdl first though since they don't have cdl school.
    That's probably your only choice.

If I was you. Id rescind the 2 week notice if possible. Do whatever you need to to keep your current job until you fully research what you are doing. You are really taking the toughest path and its not a guarantee you will make it. Listen to US who have been this route. (Ive gone through CRST schooling...... IF i had known better or someone I could talk to beforehand... I NEVER WOULD Have DONE the company sponsored training 1st. Now if it was my last choice on earth.... Then I would have done it. I had options (plenty) of em; I just rushed right in and I was literally a slave for a year. Get used to working for .26 a mile (3/4 hundred a week) while drive all day non stop (Because you are a team.... Barely taking a shower. Putting up with a co drivers funk. Driving from Coast to Coast (Broke)..... That wont be fun at all.... ITs only fun when u got money to enjoy the activities while on the road. While you are at a starter company, you wont make enough to do anything but eat some ramen noodles and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. You will try to eat at truck stops but they will break you faster than anything since you wont make anything that 1st year
