Is that you saying you're a snowflake?
Lets put this in toddler terms.
You go get unloaded, takes 6 hours.
You go get reloaded 15miles down the road and that takes another 5 1/2 hours.
Shipper makes you leave. You go park.
Now not only did you just just sit for 11 1/2 hours blowing away your 14, now you're forced to basically sit another 10 hours.

I thought there was a "safe haven" rule??? Yet I didn't see anyone mention it. Is this no longer a rule???
-
It's never been,
call the federal marshals they explain it to you. -
Thanks. I found my answer and i was wrong. It also would not apply to the topic that was shared.

Calamity may ensue when a bunch of guys walk in December.
No way is it safer.
You have to drive faster, at least I do, than ever before to ensure you make your planned waypoint. -
If he lost 5 hours at the shipper, it is reasonable to believe it was his 14 that ran out, not his 11. Do a split and run. If it was his 11 that ran out, elogs have nothing to do with it....TripleSix Thanks this.

D ## ..(i'm local driver). In the above case, what should an OTR driver do?
Thanksk -
Well I'm still in school and learning the rules.... so I will try to answer your question.... not sure if I will be right or not so others will have to let me know.
1) if he left himself on duty while waiting to be unloaded & loaded... his best plan of action is to maybe drive an hour (@12.5 hours) start looking for a place to shut it down for 10 hours.
2) he could have found a place to shut it down for 10 hours as soon as he got loaded.
3) while waiting to get loaded he could have started looking (maps, apps) for a place to shut it down. Once they started loading him, he would have a better idea of when he was going to leave and since he already found options. He could do the math and maybe reserved a place that he would be at in his 13th hour. I don't know how reserving spots work nor how much they cost.
4) now if he got to the unloaded spot and he was early.... they told him it would take 6 hours before they got to them. (Depending on his appointment time for the loading)
He might have been able to see if they could let him stay in the parking lot so he could have gone "sleeper" for 8. (An added 2 hours from the 6 he had to wait) Which if I understand would reset the 14 once he took this second brk while waiting to get loaded.
Not sure about #4 option but he had some options.... -
And he would be in the same boat if he was on paper.
