How many watts is the one pictured rated for?
I tried to run a fridge off a 1,000 watt inverter a few years back. But it couldn't supply enough startup current for the fridge. The compressor would burn out in less than a month, happened on three fridges.
Later I used a 1,800 watt inverter that worked fine, but I had to shut off the fridge while starting the truck. I found if the compressor on the fridge happened to kick in while I started the truck, it would blow the compressor.
Now I use a 2,500 watt pure sine wave inverter on a truck with a Maxwell Engine Start module and haven't had any issues at all.

Also be sure to use really large wire to supply the inverter. I use welding cable.

Have you looked into the Dometic/Waco? I had a ch18 that lasted over 10 years in a rough riding day cab. It will freeze stuff solid if you want it to and it won't kill your batteries (it will shut down automatically if voltage gets low). In those ten years it was rarely turned off. It would easily go a long 3/4 day weekend without shutting down.

Agreed! While a steep investment at the jump. It pays for itself with less hassle and worries of other cooling solutions.

This is the set up that i have in my pete. I took out the passenger seat to make room since i drive a 9 car hauler(Coffin sleeper). With relative new batteries i can leave my fridge running on max cold for two days. This is a true $$ saver. My wife makes my food then freezes it overnight. It lasts over two weeks in my fridge. On my last otr trip( 7days out). I spent less than $7 on food

Don't forget this plus a tight secure connection to the battery. You have 8.33 Amps of current at the battery for every 100 watts used on the 120 volt side of the inverter.

They have cut off switches, you will probably have to reset it in the morning if you have a weak setup and dont charge batteries. And you might forget and see you have warm food inthe afternoon

    Sometimes ice chest more reliable.
