Buying a straight truck

    Hi everyone,

    My company is asking me to research into the idea of buying our own truck to do local deliveries in Los Angeles. I think a used 3-ton truck (this fits 8 pallet spots right?) would do the job perfectly. The products are furniture.

    I'm not familiar with trucking lingo but could some give me some points on what to look out for? Would a 3 ton truck work?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Whats the footage? 24ft=10 pallets, 26ft = 12, 28ft = 12+

    Also, Im no expert by any stretch of the imagination. But, after spending $4k on a new turbo. You want to make sure you check that out first. If you can take the hose off the turbo housing and look into, you want to make sure there is no oil in it. If it is. Its going to fail. I have only had my truck for a month. I wish I had of known then. Good Luck!

    Yes should definitely be less than 6000 lbs / 3 tons. Our products are mostly light furniture (chairs, desks, etc)

    Hi Spartan, I think a 24ft would be too large as the truck will be doing residential deliveries, thus I thought of using a 3 ton truck. Okay, I'll definitely keep this in mind, thanks!

    Under CDL? Or do you have a CDL? If not you need to stay under 26k gross weight. Probably 20 or 22 foot van body. You will want a lift gate more than likely

    You may can find a 16 foot body but 20's will be more readily available
