Good time to do laundry. I'll usually stay up and plan on a split break the next day whenever I get tired.

This is exactly why Elogs and the current HOS rules are so dangerous. No 2 people can sleep/work/play the same. We all function differently.

Without rules I would drive 22 or 23 hours a day, why should I be away from home and not be driving every minute?
If they got rid of drug testing I would drive even more.

And this is why people like me are stuck with rules that dont work.

Like you,. if I am out on the road,.. work is work. May as well be productive and make as much money as I can. How ever,.. I DO NOT,.. drive like you describe. I go maybe 5 - 8 hours tops. Body says its tired,.. I find a spot and sleep. When I wake,.. maybe 3 - 5 hours later. I get back behind the wheel and drive again. I sleep when tired,.. drive when I feel rested. This is as productive and safe as can be for someone like me.

And yes,.. I could do 15 - 20 hours straight. How ever,.. I would end up sleeping the whole next day and still feel exhausted after sleeping for more than 10 - 12 hours straight. Thats why said we are all different. The way you describe is not productive for me. I would be tired all the time.

If they ever work out various split birth rules that allow someone with my sleeping habits to be able to sleep and drive according to how my body says it feels,.. then I would be happy to go on elogs. Happy to say,.. come Dec 18th,.. I will be among the few still on paper.

Talking to someone seems to always wake me right up. If not an option maybe try to call someone or have a 5 hr energy a few hours before you stop driving.

Little crossover from the other thread but I always find having some melatonin and sleep medicine extremely useful OTR for forcing sleep cycle changes

You have to be able to change from night sleeping to day sleeping whenever the loads demand it in this job. It has always been this way, always will. If you can't do this, you have the wrong job.

And it's always been wrong, being the largest contributer to fatigued driving.
The only reason it exsist is that drivers can't and won't stand for themselves.
To drunk on company/ industry kolaid.
