I say change the name
History has shown that a racist like this guy are an embarrassment to us
Yes we have grown to become a better country as far as the treatment of minorities, well maybe a little overboard
But our children can learn about this part of history by reading text books
Not to be seen as a person to be looked up to every day when going to school -
I agree, they should change the name. There was a school they were looking to name here in Madison, and the name that it was going to go by was a Hmong leader that turned out to not be such a nice guy, so that name got booted and replaced with something else.

It has not been an issue until now has it? if not then let the name stay..
Joetro Thanks this. -
Well now, you see, we will get these folks all stirred up. Then we will tip off the media. Then we will have a riot. Then folks will get hurt, and if we are lucky maybe even a few will get killed.
The upshot of all this is just what we want. WE GET OUR NAME IN THE PAPER! Issue? What issue? I'm talking about gettin' my NAME IN THE PAPER, maybe even some FACE TIME ON TV!Big John Thanks this. -
What gets me is that almost every city in Cali has a MLK Bld or AVE and how many MLK High schools do we really require to be compliant?
Enough already!!!!
MLK was a great man but there were/are other great people too!Big John Thanks this. -
Not to mention Cesar Chavez Blvd. . . .
-
Uh, you don't want me to get started on Caesar "Crop Burner" Chavez now do you?
-
I understand How this is a distraction to some folks, but what about changing the name to like the story said the street it is on? That way fifty or a hundred years from now it will no be a question... As for MLK Blvd. or Ave seems there is one in most major cities across America. I don't have a problem with that. We have been changing names on schools for years now, because they offend some folks, this is just another in the long line of things that have been changing across this land for the last quarter century. I belive it will continue until the names are gone and replaced by numbers, that way no one is offended.

Names like Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Franklin will be removed because they will be considered offensive since they represent the "Evil" history of America. They have/ will be replaced by names like MLK, Chavez, Che, Castro, Armando Garcia (the bastid that killed L.A. County Sheriff's Deputy David March-a hero in Mexico for doing so btw), Ayers, Pelosi, Reid, Durbin, Ted Kennedy, and bin Laden.
You just have to love "Change".Big John Thanks this.
