4 years ago I was on a dedicated run from okc to North Dakota for Ryder. They paid us $50 dollars for every night in the sleeper. Which normally was 3 nights each week.

Many years before my dad went on his own he worked 4 AAFES now exchange. But he drove teams and they were paid hourly both. While either was driving. So he literally got paid overtime 2 sleep. Wasn't a huge hourly rate. I believe like $13 per hour. But they both got paid that rate whenever truck was on duty or driving. So in a week he made 40hrs plus like another 50-60 hrs overtime plus his per diem. Was a great gig back then.

I hauled powder for 10 years and got paid round the clock by the hour from when I left home until I returned. It was very lucrative until the Dangerous Good act changed the way the product was handled. I worked for a agent so I was treated much better than the guys hauling for the few carriers licensed to haul powder.

I get paid for everything, from the time I leave my house until I get home again. When I'm on tour or something else, I get a hotel buyout $75 a day. I work for the biggest entertainment lighting company.
