Of course!
A lot has been changing for the better with me. The less my fan boys know about me the better.
(wink)
Hurstlovesthedrive, x1Heavy and Tug Toy Thank this. -
I think I would pass to much. So old is better or this a preference?
-
Didn't realize you got a new truck. I hope you paint the hood black. Just to keep people around here happy.
dngrous_dime, mp4694330 and Hurst Thank this. -
LOL Thats what my mechanic told me. Give em something to talk about he says.
Truck was painted a year ago. Its too pretty and shiney for that. Front bumper sits low and I know will cause me problems with some of the places I go. Previous owner pulled a 7 car Sunvalley trailer,.. never went off road.
He was trying to sell as a package. Wouldnt sell me the tractor unless he could unload the car hauler first. So we played the negotiation game for a couple months. He finally unloaded the Sunvalley,.. I headed home in June and we made a deal.
Not perfect, but working on getting it there,. I've already got $16k dumped into it and it hasnt even pulled a trailer for me yet.

I may be out of touch, but I signed a 41K midroof 120 which probably was about a 12 to 15K profit to the operation that sold it to me back in the mid 90's it was not too long before I saw that type of truck be traded in and other models such as volvos take over around the east coast for a number of years as they ran out the miles. At the time retail new trucks were about 85K I was given a CH Mack day cab that was a wonderful little tractor for what I did that winter up 56 in PA near Altoona on Ice (Fishertown/Babcock Ridge Mountain) and everything I needed out of it on town hill south of Breezewood at 43 mph upgrade 80K gross was twice what I was getting with 18 or so on a big cam 300 87 frieghtliner. That was worth time. I think they may have paid around 75K for that CH mack. But not sure.
Fast forward to today, truck prices retail is dam near 150 if not pushing 170 depending on what you have on them. It's getting really serious business buying trucks today when the freight model for revenue has not gone up appreciably in 20 years. You might be making 4.00 a mile but you are under a NDA agreement contract and no one will know for a fact. What I see is only 1.99 to 2.60 and that is using months or year old data from Cass Index. It needs to be 3.50 or better around the USA for the newer equiptment.
Ive said my two or three cents here, I'll hop off the soapbox.lovesthedrive Thanks this. -
Please, what are the steps to leasing trucks to companies? Are the companies that find drivers? Any reputable company? Average monthly pay?
-
@Emmanuelson You should be asking these questions over in the new drivers area as these questions have already been posed. New drivers should try and stay away from the bottom feeders like swift and werner. Schneider and Prime arent that great, yet they treat drivers better.

Old is NOT always better, and it is a preference to many.
Economics is not always there with older trucks, despite what some think. The cost of maintaining an engine that hasn't been produced in almost two decades can climb quickly and the complexity of some of the engines back then are even more of a problem finding someone who knows how to work on them and get them running right.
