If you want OTR Schneider has a terminal in woodhaven( I-75 exit 32, behind Panther and next to the Michigan truck stop. If you tell me what kinda job you want(IE: van/flat/tank I can tell you more). -
Don't know Wahwah- I just checked Big Orange's website and they said there were no positions open in MI. I have worked for Central Transport, it wasn't the worst job I ever had, but you will be working a lot of hours (if u are linehaul), getting paid mileage, but make a reasonable amount of take home (I averaged $675-730/week). Whiteline has been looking for drivers off and on, but the local spots they have been advertising have required a decent amount of experience.
Another option is MPH, out of Fremont,MI, they might hire even though they are on the other side of the state (but it wouldn't be local). Good luck.wahwah70 Thanks this. -
If I were him I would try a LTL carrier like Roadway or Yellow, They can be hard to get into, but once you are in it's darn near impossible to get fired, the only bad thing is you have to temp for a year or so.
He could also try Penske in Pontiac,But they require two years... And if all else fails swift has a terminal in New Boston(gasp)...
Doesn't CFI have a terminal in Romulas??? I know they have one around here, I just forget where... They would be a good OTR choice for him. -
Yes CFI has a terminal there in Taylor, MI

Thanks HonorRoll. ANother option is NDL (National Distributors Leasing), they have a terminal in Romulus/Taylor, and they do have some regional/local opportunities sometimes.
An LTL is a good idea, ConWay has been advertising that they are looking for drivers for some time, but htey do require experience and are pretty picky when it comes to hiring. -
Werner is another option in the area. Drove Canada for them as well. Junk truck, but was treated well by my fleet manager, and the customs people in Milton Ontario are really decent. They have a drop yard at X32, I75, the Detroiter truck stop. Free parking. They also have every trailer going to Canada inspected prior to leaving for Ca. The mechs at the Detroiter do a good job, although takes a while. If you can stand the embarassement of driving a "weiner wagon", go for it. I spent 10 days out then home. Never had a problem getting there. -
