So is there a difference between hitting the George Washington Bridge at 8 a.m. versus 10 a.m.? Because if I managed to drive straight through without having to pull over except for a 30, I will be hitting the George Washington Bridge at 8 a.m. sharp. Alternately, I could pull over somewhere and hang out for an hour or two before hitting the road again.
My gut tells me that it probably won't make much difference, because the last time I went across the GW Bridge, it was 11 a.m., and it took me almost an hour to make it across the bridge. But I figured I would ask.

Have any of you driven in Indiana before? Pretty good state? I ask because your company takes you to those parts of the country. Places I haven't been to. I might have a job there with US Xpress. Heard the roads are bad and some high crime in certain NE parts.

Hi, I am interested in your company. How consistent are they with performance based raises. Thank you

Crossing the GW is a crap shoot, you never know what it will be.ExtremeUnction and Redtwin Thank this.

IN is a regular destination and route through to points west. The roads are kind of bumpy, but lacking any substantial grades and the truck speed limit is 5mph slower than cars, but other than that it's a pretty unremarkable state. I'm sure there are high crime areas, same as every other place, but I've never had an issue.
If a place looks seedy, it probably is. Keep your doors locked and don't hang around outside your truck at truck stops chatting.Last edited: Aug 1, 2017

Raises are based on tenure, I just got an extra penny after a year. I have no clue when the next one is or how much it will be. We don't have fuel economy, safety or on-time bonuses like other companies may offer...or have ways of weaseling out of.
If you are an experienced driver you may not start at the base rate of pay, but that's something you will have to discuss with recruiting.C & C Thanks this. -
Southbound I-65 from Chicago to Indianapolis is the worst Interstate freeway I've driven on in the year I've been driving a truck.
Aside from that, Indiana is pretty unremarkable. I go to Indianapolis all the time, I stop at my favorite truck stop to get Indian food all the time, never had a problem.Rocknroller4 and Lonesome Thank this. -
If that's the worst stretch you've driven, consider yourself very fortunate. There are far worse ones. Anything near NYC comes to mind. I-95 sucks from VA to the NE. Chicago, Los Angeles, SeaTac area to name a few others.Rocknroller4 Thanks this.

Indiana is an outstanding state. Just ask me.....

I agree. It's usually out standing on a Chicago street corner.
