This driver speaks truth. Every O/O that I have spoken with at Fleet car has said the same thing. I'm struggling and I wish I would have stayed on somewhere else as a company driver. A wise man once told me; The first rule of being a successful O/O is never lease or purchase a truck from someone who controls your dispatch. If you really want to be a successful O/O, get your FICO credit score in order and find a lending firm that has financed commercial equipment. If you have a good credit score you will get it at a much lower interest rate than a not so good score.

The other thing is,(not saying you don't) if you don't have a good credit score, it's a pretty good indication that you are not a reliable person with money matters and are definitely not ready to become a business man. No disrespect intended. Many of us have been there and had to learn the rules. Start with your current financial situation. Clean it up, build some revolving credit before you try to undertake managing a $300,000 investment. Manage your current financial situation well before moving on to bigger things. Also, research the pro's and cons of having your own authority.

Although I've never worked for Fleet Car as an owner operator, I've observed their o/ops while doing loads for FC as an independent. My take is that guys buy the totally decked out truck that's heavy, the beat up falling apart rustbox, or the big sleeper quickloader, then complain the loads don't fit yadda, yadda, yadda. FC bids the same new car work as everyone else. Their rates are similar to many other new car haulers. My point is that the guys who know how to make money can easily make great money at FC. The ones who struggle, in my humble opinion are the ones that would struggle anywhere.

You are right on point. It should also be said that even though some fail at running a one truck trucking venture, not everyone will fail. No matter what type of venture one chooses in life, if you do proper planning and are prepared for hard times you can prosper.

About right for new car pay.
What you miss out are deductions, inflated, quadrupled, taken out of a sky
