And a year model 2000 truck with a factory installed year model 1999 engine is what the discussion is about. Plenty trucks built in 1999 titled as year 2000 models out there.

It is the build date of the engine!
1999 was last year of optional engines as far as electronic or mechanical.

A 2000 model truck with a 1999 engine is exempt.

It doesn't say anything about the engine being factory installed. Any truck over 2000 that has a engine manufactured from 1999 and earlier is exempt.

Engines don't have a model year, they have a date built. You don't know what you're talking about. FMCSA has rescinded the rule on model year for the truck and replaced it with when the engine was built. It now has nothing to do with the truck itself, which is how it should have been in the first place.

You are correct.... I myself was using a factory truck as an example, not everyone owns a Glider.

Cummins can call it whatever they want, but manufacture date is what matters for engines. A 99 engine was built in 99, not 98. A 2007 engine was built in 2007. A 2008 model year volvo could have been built in 2006,2007 or 2008. Its manufacturer discretion for trucks, not for engines due to the EPA.

i need to go read for myself what this is about its news to me everything iv heard prior was MY 2000 as the cut off point, my whole truck including the engine was MANUFACTURED in 99. my truck left the factory onto the road in 1999 was first sold in 1999 but it is a 2000 model year on the title/vin. under the previous wording i was not exempt as my vin number identify's my truck as a 2000.
