I replaced the cheapo truck spec coil that had a 1.5 swr with 9 ft of coax with a 5.5 Francis, now the the swr is reading 2.5 on 1, and 2 on 40..so it is short...but Francis website reads Do Not use 9 ft coax may cause high swr..nothing about if antenna is short.bored silly Thanks this.

I haven't seen a 102" fiberglass whip since back in the 70's. Back then I had two of them mounted on opposite corners of a Vega wagon, one for CB, and the other a 7db gain array for 2 meters.bored silly and tucker Thank this. -
My 102s, both of which have lost the corona balls on the end of 'em, pick up less static than my Monkey Made antenna picked up...bored silly Thanks this.

Russ was the only person to every touch my radio equipment. It was a great loss to the hobby when he passed. He was a great person and really knew his stuff. He knew more about electronics than any one I have ever crossed paths with.bored silly, rabbiporkchop and mike5511 Thank this.

Found anybody close by who you trust to take his place?bored silly Thanks this.

Will a so239 cause too much line loss for 2 -9 foot coax, trying to get close to 18 to see if it will change the swr on my 5.5 Francis which is reading short...before I buy a 18 foot coax?

I did a thing today. Cut one of my 102s down to 54" and put that on top of the 54" of shaft. Works great. Will get pics tomorrow.
rabbiporkchop and lilillill Thank this. -

Will do the same thing in a crapcadia. Sorry but there's a reason for running 18 ft. Of coax that's why I've always run it and it always gives me the results I've wanted....
