10 years ago I drove trucks cross-country with CFI, Western Express, and Swift. When I stopped driving, I made the mistake of surrendering my class A. A couple of years ago I got a Class B license, and I've been driving tour/charter buses since. However, now I'm returning to trucking, and I start trucking school AGAIN next week.
Ive been doing alot of research on what company I should go with, but alot of the forums and youtube videos might be outdated. So I thought I would start a thread to see if I could get some help with my decision.
My reason for returning to OTR trucking is because I eventually want a driving job that has me home nightly or weekly in OKLAHOMA CITY, and that pays 1000+ a week. As you know, in order to do that, I need at least 1-2 years of recent OTR experience. When I drove before, I jumped from company to company, and I refuse to do that this time. So drivers, help me out.
This is what I NEED:
Great miles AND good cpm
Great equipment
2015-2017 Freightliner, Volvo, International, Peterbilt, KW
Full condo sleeper (preferably)
Great dispatch/driver relationship
No flatbedding
Options in OKLAHOMA CITY for OTR, regional, and dedicated .
Raises and Bonuses
Weekly pay
Not the lowest governor setting
Benefits
Overall a great company to start with.
What I really WANT:
Inverter.. Installed or allowed to install
Refrigerator..Installed or allowed to install
Satelite TV..Installed or allowed to install
TV Mount..Installed or allowed to install
Bluetooth or Aux with stereo
Curtains that close off the entire cab and not just the bunk area
Rider program
Tuition Reimbursement
Where I've APLLIED:
US Xpress
KLLM
Averitt
Wil Trans
Raider Express
Prime
I'm sorry my thread is so long, I just want to be specific. I look forward to your POSITIVE FEEDBACK.
Stay safe!!
I'm returning to trucking. Please help me decide where to go.

Puppage and Texas_hwy_287 Thank this.

Get your Hazmat endorsement and local jobs will give you instant preference without the need for prior or otl.
Local "Night Shift" drivers are also heavily sought after and typically pays a nickel more per mile.
Averitt has a division named OTL On Tour Logistics if that matters.Just passing by, Puppage and Emlevell Thank this. -

The best pay will be with Old Dominion Freight Lines. They have "line haul" which is terminal to terminal/drop & hook. They also have local which is "P&D" or "pickup & delivery."
P&D is home every day and Line Haul is home every week and sometimes through the week; just depends on the terminals you go to for the drop & hook.
Freymiller is headquartered in Oklahoma City and has the amenities you want. The mechanics will install a refrigerator at the shop.
Freymiller hires new cdl grads and drivers with less than 6 mos. experience and puts them through their "Restore Program." This is an excellent "driver friendly" refrigerated trucking company.
From the website: "At Freymiller, we’ve got a special program for recent student graduates and for experienced drivers who’ve been off the road for a little while.
Our Restore finishing program will pair you with a certified trainer to give you the recent on-the-road driving experience you need to step into a job as a Freymiller company driver."

Frey Miller has a terminal in OKC i believe and I've heard good things about starting with them. There are several threads here about them. Casper will be along shortly to give you the short list.
Emlevell Thanks this. -
Old Dominion may be something I look at once I get the OTR experience. OTR is what I'm needing right now. I did look at Freymiller once, I need to go look at them again. Thx.
