If this helps you any....do what I do. When you stop for the day, go out and mingle with drivers from companies you are looking at. I've been doing that for a year now. I have learned more from them than you ever will here. Unless of course someone here pm's you and takes you under their wing. I know who to avoid and who is good based on those conversations. If a driver isn't doing well, believe me they will let you know. Same for a driver that's with a good company. They are happy to tell you about their success, and if they are doing REALLY well they'll show you statements. Happens all the time. Couple that with phone calls. Spend the time to talk to the recruiters. Make a list of questions and don't hang up until that list is satisfied. For that, you need to have some street smarts. If it's a bad deal, you should be able to feel it. If you don't have that ability, you're screwed from the jump. I agree with almost every naysayer here when it comes to leasing from the company that supplies your freight. There are only two exceptions that I know of, and I would trust both of them. But other than those, you're better off going to a company like Ryder or Penske for a year and renting from them. No restrictions there on where you go for loads. And then proceed by plunking down some cash on a new ride either through a bank or a dealership. I am in the exact same boat as you. You're gonna have to pay the devil for a year. But after that, you'll be ok. Just remember, the money that comes in doesn't belong to you. It belongs to the business that you are setting up for your future. Keep that in mind, always. I wish you the best of luck. Please keep posting, let us know how you did. I'm right behind you, I'll be be starting in a couple months.

That right there is my plan if and when I decide to go O/O, Have a minimum of at least 18K saved and my credited darn near paid off. I also plan on selling my house seeing that I'm the only one that lives here, also leave quite a bit with my mom for her use and the rest put in storage till the time comes to get a place of my own. But if and when I do get a place of my own I'll have saved up quite a bit, my plan hopefully, to buy property so I can build a house and also some sort of building or barn that I can work on my own stuff and store the truck inside!!! -
