You can find a 2012-2013 Volvo with 350,000 for around 50k . Save up the money. Stay away from the maxx force .
Stay a company driver become financially stable do your homework than buy a truck . You're patience will pay off .

I'm pretty happy with my volvo 730, 2014 bought it with 411k on it with D13 engine. Quiet and Volvos are the best in tight spots where I would be cussing and sweating through multiple pull/backups in my old Freightliner. It does cost more but if your gonna spend a lot of time living in it it is worth it. Whatever you buy spend the money to put it on a dyno to know that you have a good engine and transmission.

Back when I started i would look at truck brands but now I shop by motor first. Gear ratio second. Overall condition and value next. Then price. -could care less if it's in a freight liner, Volvo or peterbilt.

why dont you look into pre 2007 trucks ?

    1. More affordable acquisition cost

    2. More reliable / less complicated motor

    3. Easier to fix / cheaper parts

maxxforce garbage ! stay away .
1-2 years . you'll be stuck in it longer . sounds like money pit to me bud

if you are oo i would go for a classic freighshaker
i got one for 20 k . it had 1.4 original miles. fully rebuilt engine ( receipts as proof plus i called the shop, always call the shop)
detroit ser 60 14ltr , it was owned by a lady for 12 years ( i know i got lucky ) she had all the paperwork of all the maintenance . it took me 4 months of searching until i found it on cg. no i am very very happy with this truck .

    i recommend

1999-2003 freight liner , with detroit, 13 speed et . rebuilt engine , no egr bs . around 20-25 k
you invest another 25 k over the next 2 years and you'll be happy

if you have good credit barrow money and buy a brand new truck with warranty and hit some miles ( smartest option if you can )
