The Rand unit is $100 from them so I'm pretty sure they'd let you buy one.

 

I've yet to get an ELD..... I'm waiting on the phone one.....

 

I'll tell you, ELD is underrated. I went from paper to ELD, and I would never go back. The way I run, the HOS is plenty for me. ELD is so quick and easy. We work hard, and there is anything that will make my life easier, I'm all for it.

The only reason I can think of, why someone would want to stay on paper, is to exceed the HOS or they don't like change. I was skeptical when I was first forced to go to ELD, but now I'd never go back.

 

So Landstar offers a Rand McNally ELD unit?

 

I think they are getting one or something.....Logs called me a few weeks back and discussed some options and A rand McNally one was one of the options

 

Is it that ELD fob that fits over the ECM? Like the one they sell in the truck stops?

 

I've been using them since 2012. I was skeptical at first too. Now I'll never go back. The only thing I don't like is the 14 hour rule. But that's an HOS thing as a whole not exclusive too ELD's.

 

The ecm is on the side of the engine. Are you talking about the plug under the dash? I believe the model number is HD100. Scuttlebut says other units are being tested now as well. I'm no longer interested since the changed the elog ruling to engine manufacture date.

 

Is anyone familiar with Southeast Trailer Repair in Conley, Ga for a pre-lease inspection? If so, how are they?

 

I haven't used them in about 6 years.....they were good when I went back then.

I dont remember the inspection process but the do good work on trailers!!
