About this many plus a fresh box (if you store them dangling like I do, make sure the weight carrying tarp strap is in good condition and you break up the number of tarp straps per bunch so it won't be too heavy, I've not ever had a bunch come off the trailer).

But I run the same trailer (B-train) all the time. If I weren't I would go with more than one box. Either a fresh box and a partial, or two full boxes. 50 tarp straps per box.

I do the same thing. I drilled a few holes in the cross member a hair bigger than the hooks and just hang them. IMG_20170816_111930062.jpg
It usually takes a Phillips screwdriver rammed in the knot to get them back apart. Especially when it's hot when you tie them together. IMG_20170816_111942263.jpg

We do the same thing. If I was on the same trailer all the time I'd either pick 20 or 25 as a number and make them all the same count. Then at a glance you know how many you have. I should buy a couple boxes for me and grab 3-4 boxes for the shop. It stinks being short. 6 tarp straps was $12 USD yesterday vs a box of 50 for $45 CND.

Nice spot for a tool box. You carry a spare for the trailer?

No. I been thinking about making a bracket between the frame rails underneath to stash one.
Be a pain to get to it but better to have and not need than the other way around.

Mondays load at the receiver. The smaller pieces each had two 5k straps. The big piece had two 5k chains. It had to be tarped and I did a horrible job at it. A real horrible job. Complete pillow from Solon OH to Jamestown NY. The whole thing is a industrial box furnace for heat treatment.
