I had some unusual wear in my stear tires. Asked the tire tech about it. He said excessive speed while empty. Sounded about right to me.

the interesting part that this wear started right after new levelling valve was replaced at the volvo dealer. Checked the height with a tape measure from the floor to the rear end housing seem it is 7.5in which is about right according to the math formula posted on this forum

Correction : From the bottom of the frame rail to the middle of the seem.

Here's my results. My tires wore similar to what Jace379 shows. Shop thinks my truck has been hit before. Looks like my front drive is bent.

so what does excessive speed while empty tire wear looks like. just kinda curious
iv had some weird steer tire wear issues i have not totally nailed down yet, iv gotten them a lot better and found some tires that resists it more, but the only way i have found to keep it at bay is frequently swapping my steers side to side. i do tend to run as fast as the speed limit will let me when bouncing empty and my truck only runs about 10.5 on the steers empty.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
I have owed a truck where they had to bend the steeraxle to get the tires wear even and stop the truck from pulling to the right.
Truck was never in a accident.
Axle was crooked out off the factory.Lepton1 Thanks this. -

Friend of mine had wear like that on his drives, ended up the drive axles were bent. Frame shop straightened them and everything has been fine since.
Lepton1 Thanks this. -
It is possible, i drive in North East quite often and those roads are not exactly silky smooth. How much did it cost him to straighten them? Thanks
