    I highly doubt it's the meter, I have two of them and the both showed a reading. However, I just went back and rechecked and it shows open circuit now. There had to be a metal chip or something in the barrel causing it to short.

    I had to blow out the two new studs I bought with air because they had metal flake in them. Just a big bulk bin with stainless studs and obviously no cleaning before they were thrown in there.
