FMCSA 395.8(f)(7)
(7) Signature/certification. The driver shall certify to the correctness of all entries by signing the form containing the driver's duty status record with his/her legal name or name of record. The driver's signature certifies that all entries required by this section made by the driver are true and correct.
It cannot be a true and correct entry if you are changing it all through the day.
Warning moving violation. No inspection.

That is your interpretation, not DOT, using your logic every thing up until you sign the log is a lie. Truth is DOT does not specify to sign at beginning or end of tour. If you sign at the start of the day it indicates every thing entered is true and accurate. I've signed my logs at the beginning of my tour for 50 years and have never even been questioned on it. Never had a log violation of any kind.Studebaker Hawk and Blackshack46 Thank this.

The amount of mental agility some people use to "prove" they are not wrong is sometime impressive. If only they would use that brain power to think about why they are wrong.
As for the interpretation, yes it is DOT's interpretation too.
Question 24: When must a driver complete the signature/certification of the driver’s record of duty status?
Guidance: In general, the driver must sign the record of duty status immediately after all required entries have been made for the 24-hour period. However, if the driver is driving at the end of the24-hourperiod,he/shemustsign during the next stop. A driver may also sign the record of duty status upon going off duty if he/she expects to remain off duty until the end of the 24-hour period. -
I was told many years ago, by a police officer.
Stop signs in a parking lot, Private property, are not enforceable. They are only guidance. Public streets they are law.
Since then, I've always stopped at them anyway. No reason to give a reason to be stopped.
Good luck.scottied67 Thanks this. -
Looks like reasonable guidance right there.
The answer being END OF DAY. -
I will find out in a few days for you..My friend at the company I drive for got a warning and a print out of the rule.
Even the log app I use won't let me sign until the end of my day..Once I sign, it closes out the day. -
By signing at the end of the day, you could literally show 15 hours straight of driving.
Tell the officer, i didnt sign it. So its not correct. Ill update it later and sign it.nikmirbre Thanks this. -
Did you learn something?
I'm guessing the warning was literally that, a lesson to not do that again (both the not stopping and the mouthing off). -
Lol no. I only mouthed off because it was going on 10 minutes of his awkward flirting and that really pisses me off. I get it at scales enough already
As an update so far its not on my record. Not sure about csa points.trucker3205 and Zeviander Thank this. -
