Good Ol Columbus. Did J&R ever expand the property? there use to be a gate and a huge grass lot that was divided by a fence. I thought and heard that they were bidding and could expand their lot because it is tight there especially if there isn't openings in certain spots for dropped loaded trailers and such. You'll have to let me know. When I went they flew me to Minnesota even though I was from MA. you'll get food vouchers for lunch and Dinner not much or actually not even sure they do that anymore but you should defiantly do a day to day for a little while. I did one a while back. ill follow I like hearing about them. Not sure what Columbus has to offer for trucks lots a freight liners there. They are letting you choose correct? back then they didnt have that stuff. Also, there is a decent chinese place that delivers to the terminal if you got bored with what ever they feed. BUT the best place to get chinese chicken wings is at the Tomah, WI terminal!!!!!!! Anyways, I wonder if they still give out the key for all there locks on the trailers and such. I some how got 2 in orientation so i just handed one back lol. Only thing I didn't like about schugel and it being my first company away from my first company after receiving my CDL are those super singles. takes some time to get use to in winter, oh and BTW invest in a serious COAT and winter hat, and grab as much diesel treat for winter.....I thought that NE was cold until I went to Minnesota LMAO!! BRRRRRRRRRR
Welp, if you have any questions or anything give me a shout ill try to help. Im handing you over the reins here so have fun, be safe, and good luck!

They didn't really explain the property too much but I'll be looking for that now. And they were going to fly me into New Ulm at first but the ticket was out of the price range. Said I could wait another week and they could book it for then but I said no, I need to get back on the road. The hotel receptionist handed me a meal ticket to culver less that 50 yards away. Nice hotel here too. As far as trucks go I'm not sure, they asked what kind I would like and I said preferably KW.
My recruiter explained to me they do the best they can to accommodate your request. I explained it really doesn't matter as long as it's a manual, and it isn't roached I'll be ok. Plus they give you the option of having an inverter installed, and you can get Dish for $15 a week.
Oh I know about that cold weather lol. I've woken up in Potsdam before and seen it @ -42. Went through a gel up while on home time as well during my first 6 months. One time is all it takes.G13Tomcat, RogerThat72 and wfutch79 Thank this. -
There is a lot of food options around the hotel. When you start orientation they give you the option of those vouchers for Culvers or cash ... of course everyone takes the cash. They will give you $20 per day ... $10 for lunch and $10 for dinner. They will want receipts too. They want to make sure you are getting food and eating. Some of the guys in my group went over to Walmart and bought stuff to cook in the microwave in the room ... they were cool with that too.G13Tomcat and UpstateFreight Thank this.

I like how flexible they seem to be giving you options and all that. I'll most likely go to Wal-Mart across the road. I need to anyway seeing as how I lost my bottle of shampoo to TSA at the watertown airport. Haven't flew on a plane in about ten years forgot the 3.5 ounce liquid for carry on rules.

Wait to go over there ... you can drive. Depending on the size of your class they will give you one or two vans to share for the week. Dont go crazy with them ... they know where they are at all times ... lol.G13Tomcat and UpstateFreight Thank this.

Oh thats great, hell it's not that far but still that's awesome. Really think I made a good choice coming over here. I should've done it a few weeks ago when I had the chance then. When you went through Columbus did you happen to see many trucks parked on the yard? Don't want to run into another Knight situation, waiting for a truck and all.G13Tomcat Thanks this.
