You have way too much faith in steel banding.

Or I haul, loaded, and unloaded those same loads for 7years straight. The steel band rairly broke. The pallets are also wrapped in chicken wire which does a surprisingly good job at containing the small boulders.

I think this is one of those times we agree to disagree. I see that load with a single strap(and no protection from tearing a strap on a sharp esge) on each bundle and think your a nut. If you saw mine you'd think I'm a nut for working to hard.

Better. But I'd throw 2 straps per pallet. 1 might be legal, but more is better.

One time in transit is all it'll take for you to be facing pretty hefty charges. I'd rather roll down the road KNOWING nothing can fall off my truck. And for the record, you DON'T work for the place I loaded at. Look closer at my pics. Wasn't any chicken wire on that load. There were boulders that were rocking BEFORE I secured it. Could I have hauled the load with fewer straps or chains? Sure...but it wouldn't have been properly secured. Proper securement is more than just throwing two straps over the 1st & last pallet and one strap over all of the ones in between. You need to make sure that nothing on the trailer will move. Period. Need to stop quickly? I know my load won't shift. How certain are you about yours? Just because "nothing bad has happened yet" doesn't mean that it can't or won't at some point in the future. Up to this point, you've been lucky. Problem with depending upon luck is that eventually luck runs out.

I think we can agree, hauling boulders kind of sucks.

Well I'm 100 percent sure I did work for the company you loaded at. Semco distributing perryville mo. The only load I ever had shift there was a load of large slabs. Every stack was double strapped. A car pulled out in front of me and came to a compleat stop as I was doing 70. Luckily he turned before I hit him.
