Cummins isx has letters / numbers welded on the side, does this mean it as been rebuilt?

    My 07 isx engine has letters and numbers welded onto the head just above the exhaust manifold, on the angled section... does that mean it's been rebuilt?

    its possible. do you know the original owner of the truck or was it a fleet truck? you can always give the vin to the dealer and see if the hear was changed or rebuilt

    It was a fleet truck.

    I think I have seen this many times. I think it is just casting numbers, but I will check into it.

    Maybe scrapyard markings?

    Yeah, those marking are casting number for dates, or mold info at the foundry or something. We have a brand new LT in the shop right now with an ISX15. It has those markings. I drew an arrow pointing to some of the numbers. It is hard to get a picture because of how cramped it is.
