I have cerebral palsy so I would have to be careful where I go I passed with a few doctors but I'm afraid of not passing with another doctor and having to take a skill performance test I am not that great at backing without a spotter

This is a thoughtless, stupid response.
Here's a more intelligent one in the form of a question: Why should truckers have to undergo a new DOT physical for a new employer when they already have a valid medical card (not near expiration)?
THEY SHOULDN'T!
Truckers are much too frequently under the gun for their careers, careers which are far too easy to destroy. All it takes is one ####### DOT doctor working for a corrupt, greedy firm to ruin you as a driver.
I have first-hand, current, real-life proof of that. My girlfriend and I have been team driving for a bit over 2 years. We have tried a couple of different career options, each requiring a new physical even though previous physicals were recent and our medical cards had nearly all of their time left. My girlfriend, a large girl, received a 2-year medical card all 3 times we had physicals, by a different doctor at a different firm each time, without any problems. In the time we have been driving trucks, she has lost 50lbs or so, so she is in better shape now than when we started. Given her history with DOT physicals, there should have been no reason to fear another one, especially given her improved weight.
Well, not so fast.....
Yesterday, 11/19/21, we drove 4 hours to Georgia to get DOT physicals for Barr-Nunn. Our previous physicals and medical cards are less than 2 months old, but Barr-Nunn requires a DOT physical nonetheless.
My girlfriend did as well as usual, but the DOT doctor refused to issue more than a 3-month card because she is overweight, and he wants her to get a sleep study even though she has performed well otherwise and has no history of sleep problems. Barr-Nunn requires a minimum 1-year card.
The DOT doctor, by the way, works for Concentra, where we had to go for the physical.
Our problem is not uncommon. The same issue has been complained about right here on Truckers Report:
Class Action Lawsuit Against Concentra
That doctor's action cost my girlfriend and I a job paying $112,000.00/year each, and now she is stuck with a 3-month medical card whereas less than 3 months ago she had a new, 2-year card.
This is the filthy, disgusting unfairness that truckers - even many-year truckers - potentially face every time they have to face a DOT physical. All it takes is one bad or incompetent DOT doctor to destroy a trucker's career, and his life with it. Truckers cannot simply presume a fair or correct outcome, and remedies for bad decisions are few and time-consuming.
To assume a trucker is unfit to drive because he/she isn't thrilled about yet another DOT physical is as stupid as it is unfair. Every time a DOT physical is performed, a trucker may lose his job without real justification.
Wake up.

So sorry that happened. Similar situation happened to me and it was Concentra then as well. I would recommend going back to one of the 3 doctor's that gave her a 2 year card in the past and find a company that will accept that. Best wishes to you!JLSolman Thanks this.

The getting a new card for a new company is simple. It's way too easy to forge a DOT medical card. And any company that is involved in a wreck with a driver with a forged card ill loose millions in the lawsuit. It's cheaper on the companies to make sure a new driver is actually qualified than to payout even a single lawsuit.
That said, it is getting harder to forge, but still super simple.Moosetek13 Thanks this. -
About the Medical Examination Report (MER) Form, MCSA-5875:
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration requires that interstate commercial motor vehicle drivers maintain a current Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC), Form MCSA-5876 to drive. As part of the physical, drivers are required to fill out the medical history portion of the Medical Examination Report (MER) Form, MCSA-5875.

Carriers have to have a copy of the long form with Medical Examiners name and Registration number -
I liked the old DOT physical. If you could fog a mirror, you got a two year card.
