Still miffed over what happened yesterday. 3;30pm and I had to take a 10.

It was my fault. Not gonna get into specifics but I made a mistake and the guy caught it.

What ticked me off the most was the way he helped himself to my truck. I felt completely violated. Had me open my fridge and everything. Asked him how often he catches guys with alcohol. He said all the time. Surprised me.

He did not give me a ticket or citation. Just had me take a 10 because he had to.

It did screw up my week, though. Cost me a bit of revenue.

Monday I left the house, Flint to STL 550 miles $950.

STL to Grand Island, NE. PAM Transport had it posted for $1400 then 1500, then 1400 again, finally it hit $1600. 500 miles. Called on it, asked for $1750.
"Man, we're already taking a loss on it. We got $1425 in it".
"Well I could come down to $1650."
Got into a discussion where I told him I worked for PAM, they gave me my start, he asked my I left, told.him I thought the grass was greener but it wasn't, had fond memories, yadda yadda yadda.
Told me he couldn't get to $1650. I apologized and bid him a good day, took the next call, and PAM called right back. Took 2 minutes to explain to this gal that I wasn't interested in her load, so after 4 times PAM calls back, I finally answer and he gave me that extra $50.
Funny how I walked away over $50 but got it anyways.

Nebraska I was intent on finding something cheap to Chicago. Hoping to get $700-800. Wasn't happening. Nothing available. Had to deadhead 170 to pick up a 300 mile tanker endorsement load for a whopping $550. Yeah you read that right. I had to beg for it. CHR. Couldn't believe they were so cheap. They been paying me all summer and now they're trying to make it back.

I had gotten 67 miles down the road with that load when I got pulled over.

I had planned on delivery that evening at 7pm, open til 9. Had also a load in the works going to SD for $1600 on 620 miles. But since I had to drive 280 miles this morning, I couldn't take a 600 mile load. Ended up taking a quick 300 mile load to WI for $825.

So instead of being at $4700 and in SD, I'm at $3925 and in WI. On 1900 all miles.
Hoping tomorrow I can get $3/mi to north half of FL. $3525 will be my goal. To get to $7500.

I'm betting tomorrow my phone will food with calls to Texas. Hurricane coming through, I won't go there and my boss already says to not book to there.

    Funny thing about the inspection.
The whole time he's out in his car going through my logs, I'm texting to my boss to get $100 ready for clean inspection. Hah. Guess I ate my words. He thought I was joking when I told him what happened. I screw with him all the time just to get him to loosen up a bit. He's extremely stressed. Sometimes he gets that I'm just messing with him, sometimes he takes me seriously. So he thought I was screwing with him. I wasn't. I felt and still feel bad that I got this violation. Feel that I let him down. That's the worst part of it. He asked me when I want to go full ELog. Lol.

    Goodnight, constant reader.

Fair warning about FL it's as dead as it ever gets down there for vans and reefers. Atlanta is way down. TN is very weak. Everyone has lots of freight going to FL but none of them wants to pay enough imo. I'd be surprised if you got $3 a mile van load to FL from most areas but that would be no problem at all with a reefer.

Man, you aren't kidding, I took a really good paying load to Orlando for Monday. It is dead down there. I can usually snag a decent Haz-mat load out of South Georgia. Fingers crossed!!

You did something wrong with your logs to be put out of service for 10 beside something small two days ago. Also be sure you are going be behind the scales a lot because they put your DOT number in the system for log violation as a pull around. Just make sure that log is always right. You now have a target on your truck. In three months you will have to have Elogs so get use to it and be sure they can track your every move credit card use at fuel islands.

9 times out of 10 when I go there it's 650 miles empty all the way back to the house. Once last year I did that twice in a week was a great week too.

Don't stress over it. If he didn't give you a ticket then no harm no foul. Did he complete the level 3? Or just park you as a you know you were wrong?

Under NO circumstances are they allowed behind your drivers seat or where your curtains come down behind the drivers seat. Period. While most don't have anything to hide you never know what might peak there fancy. Example I have a small safe in one of my open compartments a Iowa DOT officer noticed it. Asked what was in there? Legal papers and some cash, house keys (my glock didn't say that). He says can I look in there? I said of coarse but only if you get a warrant. He says you got something to hide? I say nope. It silent for like 45 seconds. The awkward type of silence. He says have a good day. Off I went full well knowing a gallon of Blue UV Vodka was within 2 feet of him behind my drivers seat in plain view. Well it was in a windshield washer jug. Bottom line some times your the peigon some times your the statue.

PS I am going to Dallas on Monday. Big Money

    Be Safe Out There

In a typical scenario nobody is going to wrestle with a cop who invites himself to his truck. They just do it, and you can only watch them and maybe call ACLU later. On the other hand, sometimes I think that maybe it is ok for them to take a peak, many weirdos are driving trucks, human trafficking comes to mind.

It is never ok for them to violate someone's rights that is how they end up thinking that they are better than us
There is nothing wrong with asking for a supervisor or using your phone to video the event you can call dispatch and request a second unit saying you feel threatened
I called the next day and filed a complaint with a supervisor it went to internal affairs and 3 days before court the da dropped their case and that POS wasn't going to be able to promote
Most highway patrol are hypocrites and can't live by the same laws they expect everyone else to live by
