Ownernotoperator what kind of freight you get out of El Paseo. I was in Hobbs, NM last week. I deadheaded to Mineral Wells, TX to get a load.

Also I use getloaded for alot of my freight. It has been a really good website.

ps...... anyone got and connections in Miami, Fl. I will be there Monday morning.

When I was with LS in 05 and 06 my experience was that TX freight sucked from Nov thru March. Rest of the yr TX was jumpin, especially the eastern half.

I'm sure in this economy its even worse.

Is Landstar still only paying off of 98%? What is that 2% they are taking for anyway?

landstar is not the best outfit out there.but the only great thing with landstar is FREEDOM..I NO PEOPLE THAT BEEN WITH THEM FOR 45 YEARS AND STILL THERE..THEY ARE NOT GETTING RICH.JUST PAYING THE BILLS.matter of fact its worse then it has ever been but the whole industry is.

You know people that have been there 45 years and are still there? I'm sorry but that doesn't sound like a very good company to work for. I know I will never be rich but working that long and still only paying the bills makes me wonder? I don't plan on working until I am so old that I can't enjoy retirement.

The whole industry is not as bad as you make it out to be. It depends on what type of commodity you haul. I pull tankers and have more than enough work. Those that pull freight are experiencing a huge drop off in work. Yes it can be good at times but I would suggest you look into something that pays year round.

Leopardlady, any agent can get you a load off of any load board, but then there are too many hands in the pie. I try and stay away from
Texas all together if I can. It's not bad in the summer time but winter there sucks. 1Pissedoffdriver, Landstar is what you make it. If you are not willing to hustle for loads and negotiate a little it is not for you. I have found there are 2 reactions to Landstar, either you love it or hate it. I love it here. :biggrin_255:
