Not had this issue with my 740 yet ..... But I must say., when I purchased mine and seen this design I didn't like it . I can see problems down the road. I know it's coning.. IMO very bad design flaw... and I have never had any issues or conplaints or negative commentts about either of the RM units . But me not likes this

Whats the general life expectancy of rand McNally gps units? So far I'm getting about 1.5-2 years out of one. Considering the price, that's over $200 a year. This one just quit on me, a 730, after just under 2 years. I had to return the second one I bought because it never worked out of the box.

I really don't want to go to Garmin. I tried it and didn't like it. But if I have to buy a new RM every two years....

Both died the same way. Everything was great, then the screen went crazy. Weird lines, flashing, jumbled everything, etc. Unplugging it didn't do anything,'power button didn't do anything. Holding in the reset button turns it off, and it's gone forever. Never turns back on, ever again.

Sounds like a bad power cord....

I have had my 720 ever since it came out and it works fine still
