Slip-seating position
250 miles per day max
$900 a week
Home daily
Sun-Fri
I don't have a year worth of experience but I wanted to be closer to home. Is this a good situation for someone with less than a year experience?
Is this a good job opportunity?

Looks good on the surface. Home daily and Saturday's off.
CrappieJunkie and Velli Thank this. -
Averitt is offering me a position that delivers service center to service center and home every weekend. Weighing my options between these two companies.
-
Will do and I sent tscott a PM asking about Averitt last night but never got a response. I noticed you have experience with slip seating you seemed to have a negative experience. Is it that bad?
-
I did slip seat a short time driving day cabs. I just don't like touching things where other people may have been coughing, picking their nose, sneezing, eating, scratching their crotch, etc. Every time i slip seated, had to wipe everything down such as door handles, door locks, radio knobs and anything else. If you're in a public restroom and notice a wad of paper by the door, that may have been me not wanting to touch the door handle, so I open it with a tissue, then throw the tissue on the floor.BigBob410, Maj. Jackhole and Velli Thank this.

There's your "cup half full" answer.
Here's what I see:
6 days a week, at $150 gross per day. Salaried positions are notorious for taking advantage of all 14 hours (and if 'short haul' one 16 hour day as well).
$150 divided by 14 hours is $10.71 per hour
$150 divided by 16 hours is $9.375 per hour
If you can live with that; knock yourself out.
If those are my only two choices, I'd take the Averitt gig, and have the entire weekend off.
P.S.- These stinking companies sure don't ask a lot from drivers do they?
diesel drinker, Dumdriver, austinmike and 4 others Thank this. -
Need more info about the job. If you are only driving 250 miles what are you doing for the rest of the day?. If it's breaking your back doing food service or beverage delivery then they can keep it.diesel drinker and Velli Thank this.

It sounds alright if you dont mind sharing the trk.Velli Thanks this.

It wouldn't be an entire weekend of rather a 34 hour reset but the other job is essentially the same thing with it being Saturday off. But I know I'd be able to make more money per week with Averitt assuming they get me consistent miles. Really tough choice for me I don't won't to regret my decision but I need to decide quick because I know both positions can fill pretty quickly.
