Trying to find a Local job that's ALL day work isn't gonna be easy to find, especially for new drivers. Trucking is a 24/7 operation and you MIGHT have to put in your dues to land a day time gig.

LTL P&D is ALL day work with weekends off. Yes you'll still have to work up the seniority board, but it's still day work. Logistics Companies like Ryder, Penske, CPC, Keystone Freight have dedicated accounts that deliver to Retail Stores and Pharmacies. Or you could go the Private Fleet way with Walgreens or Rite Aide. A lot of Foodservice Companies are daytime work. Same with Milk Delivery. Bread and Chips Companies have daytime work as well, because they need to deliver their products to depots so the Sales Drivers can load up they're Bread Trucks for delivery. Pepsi and Coke is anouther. Any DSD (Direct Store Delivery) job will practically be day work, whether it's Nestle, Frito Lay, Jack & Jill Ice cream, Bimbo Bakeries, etc. Shaw Flooring also has daytime work because they need to deliver flooring to showroom stores and contractors. USPS is anouther. So is Waste Management. Practically any Retail Store that has a Private Fleet, or Contracts work dedicated to their stores that needs to have they're products during daytime store hours will have daytime work. But keep in mind that daytime work usually means there's physical labor involved, such as LTL P&D, and ESPECIALLY if you do Milk Delivery, Food Service, or deliver to Pharmacies or Retail Stores that use rollers to unload the Freight. Keystone Freight was the worst job I ever had because you had to hand unload EVERY SQUARE INCH of the trailer, from nose to tail, ceiling to floor, with boxes weighing around 60-150 pounds, all thrown onto rollers to Retail Stores like TJ Maxx, Marshalls and K Mart.

There is a great deal of local day work in west Texas. Outside of that there are always beverage companies, Concrete, construction, liquor distributors and etc to look into.

And don't forget about some of the otr companies with local accts. It just up to you really

dump truck is no touch freight lol. i figure out where im going to dump, back up, open the gate and raise the box...... hence no touch freight lol

unloading a 53' trailer piece by piece is not fun. i guess it would be easier if ALL the freight was similar pieces. i did the werner training program, and i had a dollar acount trainer for a one of my my trainers. i helped unload. freight is often poorly loaded, the minimum wage jerks will put the heavy cases of soda pop and laundry soap on the top and then the stuff becomes a falling hazard. you then can sustain and injury and then be out of the drivers seat and not making money till you heal. i never had an injury but am pretty sure it happens.

    no touch is better.
