Can you climb in and out of the trailer and push a broom? Can you park in the fuel island for 30-60 minutes? You're a trucker.

Badmon, pattyj and SHOJim Thank this.

To be blunt (yes I'm oversimplifying here), its calories in vs calories burned. For me to maintain my current weight sitting on my butt all day doing absolutely zip, I should consume no more than approximately 1800 calories per day (based on the average of a couple online BMR calculators I used). That number is fairly accurate. Since I'm pretty active I try to shoot around 2300/day. Honestly calorie counting is a game for me. I sit and think about what I pack in my lunch and what I make for dinner. It is not easy to balance nutrition and calories with all that processed crap out there these days but it is possible to do it and not starve to death.

I can get in / out of the trailer and sit on my ### and wheel things back and forth. But the broom thing could be a bit tricky.

I didn't know I can walk out of the company if they want me to do something I don't agree to. Do I give a 2 week notice?

In this industry they don't care if you give a 2 weeks notice. But if you think sweeping a trailer out wouldn't be too good for your leg I would suggest finding a company that does all drop and hook because otherwise there will be times you'll need to sweep trailer out especially with beer loads.

I talked with a guy that does a lot of very specific runs. He told me that it goes like this:

    1) His trailer is loaded a couple feet high with potatoes.
    2) He drives these to a chip plant and they are unloaded by his whole truck and trailer being tilted up so they roll out.
    3) He goes and washes his trailer out with a power washer.
    4) He returns to the place he left those potatoes and is loaded with the same spuds except they are now cooked and bagged and palletized for distribution.
    5) He drives those back to the warehouse for distribution.

Point is, ask questions. Find out what the job entails before agreeing to it. If it is within your physical capabilities, then you are good to go and you don't have to worry about how much notice you need to give. Research and honesty will get you where you want to be.

True sometimes however you have pieces of wood from pallets which then requires only sweeping or if you hauled bundles of paper. Then sometimes you haul dry but it smells the trailer so then you sprinkle coffee then have to sweep it up.I drove for a company that very rarely had to get a wash out.But I had to do a lot of sweeping.

Sorry. I meant that as a joke about the broom.

Thank you for the advice. So let me get a grasp on this. The industry doesn't really care about drivers yet they are begging for them?

Look into tanker work that is plant to plant. Propane is no lifting at all and it takes like 2 hours of sitting in your cab running a pump to unload. It doesn't get any easier than that, the max you will lift is like 25 pounds.
