1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

GID Express Inc is a family owned and operated trucking company. We have 10 trucks in our fleet and we are based out of Cleveland, Ohio.

One of our oldest company drivers just bought his own truck and now we have an empty rig that needs to be driven.

If you're a qualified CDL driver and are looking for a job please give us a call so we can discuss the opportunity further.

So that's what, equivalent to a company driver making about .35 without the bennies?

Calculate the money how you would like. I don't have any drivers that complain. Whether you're W-2 or 1099 you still have to pay taxes. So either I give you a W-2 and withhold your money for you, or you take responsibility and go 1099. Remember, with a 1099 you can deduct expenses for your taxes, W-2 is limited with what you can deduct.

I'm the operations manager of GID Express and I'm contracted under a 1099. It has its advantages, believe me.

As for benefits, companies take that out of your pay too.

Call me if you have questions 216-533-7089

I've done both. I'm comparing the two for others. Yes, if you ask a "driver" if he would like more money or less money in his paycheck, he'd likely say more. And, like you said, drivers may not complain. But in the end, .45 on a 1099 is equivalent to around .35 on a W-2. The government's money will come out in the end, one way or another. And companies that pay the going w-2 rate on a 1099 are making out at the driver's cost.
