So some guy just parked in the slot next to me.

Very loud air releases every 5 seconds.

Most trucks release air like this while idling occasionally, but this is ##### ridiculous.

What the hell causes this to be this frequent and loud? I've seen this problem before in other trucks.

    Probably no sleep tonight.

There's a over pressure valve on the air dryer. It's bad. He shouldn't be driving. Should have it fixed asap.
I'd move. It's gonna keep going until the air tanks are empty.

Air dryer blowing off every 5 seconds because the guy has an air leak and its over working the air dryer and the compressor.
Hopefully his compressor will seiz up soon and shut the truck down so you can get some sleep.

    fargonaz and Tb0n3 Thank this.

the most common cause i have found for that problem is a leak on the signal line from the governor, basically governor thinks air psi is low so it kicks the compressor in almost as soon as it kicks in it hits governed psi so it kicks it back out witch signals the air dryer to purge. a bad purge valve can also be a common culprit

I developed an air leak on the trailer once not long after I left the yard, pretty bad, but not enough to make the truck undriveavable and not be able to do the run. I didn't hear the air dryer all day until after I dropped the trailer, at which point once the pressure topped out it spit out enough water and oil at once to cover a platter.

    Lepton1 Thanks this.

The reason it is so loud.
You're parked too close to them. Haha.
    This is very annoying.
    Hope you got some sleep.

It's part of the life, you are going to have to get used to it. Either move the truck, or stop parking at truck stops.
