From my 4 years + of flatbedding experience with major flatbedfing companies - company flatbed driving is more on the stupid side. So much hard work, responsibility, risk for the same or less money van company drivers make. And guess what if you want to get home, it most likely means redoing somebody's else securement/tarping or taking some serious chances with your life and freedom. So if some super truckers brag how fast they can secure and tarp, there is a good probability a conscious sucker is redoing all that "securement", because he wants to spend a few hours home after all is done.

Don't have many places with appointments, but the shingle plant in Jonesburg, MO is one. Got up here and stopped at the Flying Hook at the Truxton exit, called to see if I could get in early. Nope. Apparently they are over booked, so I'm stuck waiting. Oh well. Win some, lose some.

Perhaps you should consider moving to a van operation.
Seems you know a lot about van operations. Sounds like it may be a better fit to your personality.

Well, I'm in Montana and tomorrow I'll go piss in a cup, grab a couple odds and ends to finish buttoning up the truck and get my hands a little dirty. Got one set of brakes to do and we're going to replace all the slack adjusters, then do the DoT on it and run it into town to replace the last 4 drives...new skins all the way around. Then the fun can begin. I'm ready to turn this truck into a printing press for cash.

    More later...

And true to form, there is now a chance of snow in the forecast this week.:p You should have been here 2 months ago so we could have put out the fires earlier.

Finally getting highs in the 50s and 60s with lows in tyhe 40s.
