Hello, My 2nd day at my new company for cdl class a i was instructed to violate several DOT laws...

including the "Trainer" telling me that he only needs 4-5 hours of sleep before heading home after 11hrs of driving (which we did, i drove the entire time due to him recommending it)

including my "Trainer" not having a drivers license...

including my "Trainer" filling out my log book...

including my "Trainer" not having our truck fixed that had several equipment violations including missing mud flaps.

2nd day with the company, first real day in "Training" ... I have bills and a family to feed. What do I do? I will not violate these laws and potentially kill someone due to being trained poorly.(which one day in training I was told that I know what I'm doing and am fine to be released by the trainer)

I contacted the owner of the company and was brushed off basically. He said it was ridiculous. I asked for a different trainer and was told thats it for now and he is all they have. I have several emails as well as proof of this trainer violating these laws for me...

I am not looking to go down for these violations, what do I, The Trucker do?

Ah... I say cut bait find another company.

If you are smart as I think you are, get out of there before you do get burned.

First thing that got me is NO one fills out logs on YOUR WORK BUT YOU. THAT is NOT a trainer... ***HAmmers the counter... your logs, your signature, your HOS etc etc etc.

I don't know why I got wound up over that more than anything. I best shut up before a bigger heavy tosses me for a few days out the door.

I like you. But you need to get out of that company NOW. Go home find another one. Yes you have bills etc... but this aint going to work for you in this company. And might even hurt you bad.

GTFO. This is the tip of the iceberg and a warning of how this company operates.

that is exactly what I thought, I have had my license for roughly 6 months and he had to "edit" my log book so we could "make it work" then told me lets go sign it... At the time I considered him as a "Boss" if you will so doing what I was told... But after consulting with a few friends on the situation that took place I know for a fact they are NOT suppose to allow me to do anything that took place... Let alone THEIR company trainer even allowing me to drive after knowing we didnt break....

If you already have your cdl, just leave and find another job.
It won't do any good to complain because if you do, the boss will fire you.
Either put up with it for 6 months or change companies.

Hold on there pardner hold on.

Google Anti Corection laws (Did I spell that right?) There are Laws passed as of 2011? 12? where you the driver cannot be forced to break Federal Law on your HOS etc etc etc etc

    I say this.

Get a ledger pad. Write a story about these problems off line. Name names, Dates times and places. If this thing blows up and it will... because you learned the word NO... you will find yourself heading into a battle with Labor or Unemployment or whatever it is in your state defending yourself against these ... things.

Im no orator, I get really sloppy in talking when I think about these things because you will get fired when you use the word no. That 5K? Eat it. That's not supposed to hurt your feelings Sir, I respect you. But the industry has learned that they can take advantage of hot, hungry READY people wanting to go TRUCK NOW. Sign here sir, your soul and first born too. Thank you sir, welcome to school. Know where Im going with that?

I said before I better shut up. But there are anti corection laws on the books, research and document everything.

You do know how to say the word no. Or are learning to. Which is why I said to walk away from this outfit. Before they really hurt you.

I had a trainer who was prohibited from Class A in Virginia for something or outher. Guess what? I did all his driving for him in Virginia.

6 months before I learned why. That was a very long time ago.
